Iris Needs a Home

Meet Iris!

Iris is a 9 week old special needs kitty that needs a furever home.  Sorry about the picture quality, my cellphone camera doesn't seem to be taking the best photos these days.  

I met Iris on a recent trip to my vet's office.  She's living there until the right family comes along.  She is a very lucky little kitty too, though some might not think so.  You see, Iris has no eyes, they just aren't there, never were.  But...a wonderful person found this lucky little girl and took her in to Dr. Carter's office where they have vetted her and will keep her until a home is found. 

Iris doesn't have any idea that she is different than other kitties because she has never known life any differently.  She plays just like other kits the same age and has the best purr ever!  She responds well to voices and her hearing is just fine!  Iris is very smart too and knows exactly where the door is to get out of her kennel when someone comes to visit her.  

She needs to go to a home that has no stairs and someone who is willing to love a blind furbaby, but what is not to love!  She is absolutely adorable!!!

And besides, who wouldn't want a kitty that will probably never learn to jump up on counters and the table, because, she won't know they are there!!!! 

Do you know anyone who could give her a home?

SHERIDAN, FLYING ACE!

Look....in the sky....it's a bird....it's a plane.....NO.........it's.......SUPER CAT!

 Sheridan the super cat is on a mission.

Sheridan, who is the most suave and debonair cat on the farm (and the most handsome in his opinion!) is out to save the day! 

HMMM....I hope his mission doesn't have anything to do with the bird feeder in the left-hand corner of the above picture.   NO, it couldn't, not my Sheridan!  There must be a damsel in distress up there.  Yes I'm sure of it!!

AAAANNNNDDDD.......he's off!

HO HUM......resting up for his next mission.  

"Don't bother me", he says,  "I'm a super cat, super star"!!

This super cat MUST have more than nine lives.  

LUCY AT LAST

Today, out of the blue, Lucy decided to show up and stay just long enough for me to grab my camera and take a few shots.

Of course, it's hard to tell because she won't stand still long enough for the camera.

We can verify that it is indeed Lucy because of her 'war wounds', or what I call the notches in her gun belt.    

(Look closely at the left ear to see the evidence of her battle scars!)

  

Well.......that and the fact that she is biting me.  

She likes to bite.

GETTIN' THE BOOT!

Have been trying to catch the girl cats, Niblet and Lucy, to take their pictures so you can meet them.  They aren't cooperating though.  Niblet shows up well after dark and obviously.....I can't take her picture then.  Well I could.....but you wouldn't see anything, because she is as black as the night with no white on her anywhere. 

Lucy, on the other hand, shows up once in a while in the early morning and disappears long before I can get my eyes open and my camera out.  Lucy looks a lot like her cousin Jack, but with several notches in her gun belt.  Oops, I mean ear.   She is black too, just like Jack and Niblet, but Lucy has the same white locket on her chest that cousin Jack does.   Lucy is quite the fighter and likes to remind her brothers and cousin of that every chance she gets.  

So I wait to catch them.  

In the meantime, I can at least show a picture of me waiting.

Yeah that's me..... my leg.

Got this new 'boot' the other day.  Am just SO excited about it....NOT!  

Nothing serious. Bone spurs and a very inflamed and painful Achilles heel.  We tried physical therapy first but that didn't work.  So now.....I get 'the boot'.  For a whole two months.  Oh joy!  If the boot doesn't work, then it's surgery. 

I don't know how I'm going to wear it that long.  It's not the most comfortable thing in the world.  It's a pain in the patooty too.  Since it's my right leg that has to wear the boot, I can't drive with it on, which means toting it around and putting it on when I get to where I'm going.  It's just not worth it.  It's easier to run in the grocery with a limp than the boot!

So what are the chances of Niblet and Lucy showing up so I can get their pictures?  And what are the chances that I am going to be able to put up with 'the boot' for two months?

Something like a snowballs' chance in wherever!!

MEET 'THE COUSIN'

Ahoy there mates!

Me see's ya read about me boy cousins and me mum couldn't find me girl cousins so she decided to interview the cap'n.  

Me name's Jack.  

Cap'n Jack Sparrow to be exact.

Me human mum says I remind her of some character played by a guy named Johnny Depp.

But me saw that movie and think's me way cooler and a lot more handsome.

Whatever! 

Tis enuff of this interview, got work to do....right after me nap mates!

Meet Evil Kitty

When I was only a few weeks old, our mom brought us to live under the back porch of the alien's home.  She didn't trust these aliens and would rarely let them close to her but for some reason she thought we needed to live under that porch.  One day, one of these aliens picked me up.  I was so small I barely fit in the palm of his hand.  He scared me so much!  And boy did I ever let him have it!  I drew blood and everything!  

For some reason, after that happened, these aliens kept calling me 'Evil Kitty'.  I'm not mean though.  I am gentle and sweet and I learned that the aliens were really called 'humans' and they fed us and took good care of us.  

I LOVE my humans!

Meet The Boy Named 'Sue'

They call me Sue.

When I was little, two humans were going to adopt me.  They planned to name me Sue because they like Johnny Cash, whoever he is!  So the house humans started calling me Sue to get me used to the idea before those 'other ones' adopted me.  

I was sooooo glad when the adoption fell through!  I didn't want to leave my family here at the farm and go to some big scary city.  I was so happy that I didn't care that the farm humans kept calling me 'Sue' anyway!  I love being here.  Sometimes I go off on adventures for a few days with my cousin or my sister.  My human mom doesn't like me to do it but I have promised her I will be careful.

Meet Sheridan

 Hey dudes.  

I'm the cool one and the most handsome.  Our human mom tells my brothers they are handsome too but I know she is just being nice to them!  

I'm a bit of a daredevil too.  I like to climb trees and stuff.  Why.....the other day, I was on the roof of the porch and I just jumped off!  It was cool!  

My human won't tell me how I got my name.  Something about my eyes being too close and a bit cross-eyed when I was a baby.  She said it was a human thing and not really very nice.  But you can see, I've outgrown all that and I am handsome, handsome, handsome!

Ok, so I'm guessing you have noticed that not ONE of these pictures show the cats at, in, around or near the barn.   And did I mention these are supposed to be wild, feral cats?  Hmmm.....it seems I have failed as a feral cat owner!!!

HERE KITTY, KITTY, KITTY!

We've been blessed with quite a few wild barn cats over the years.  It started out with one. A female we nick-named Meow-meow because she was noisy.  She had a physical deformity, kind of like a hunch-back.  The vet told us she would never have kittens so we never bothered to have her spayed. 

And she didn't......for about 5 years that is.  Out of the blue, Meow-meow had a litter of two.  Before we knew it, there were feral cats all over the barn.  No mice....just wild kitties.  It was like an explosion.  They were everywhere!  

But help was soon on the way when I contacted Indy Feral at:   http://www.indyferal.org/
They came out and delivered live traps for us to catch them.  In all, eleven wild kittens and cats.  Then, once trapped, Indy Feral came back out, picked them up and took them to be fully vetted and spayed and neutered and then.....brought them back to us.  All for an incredibly low fee!  (I should note that I am not affiliated with this wonderful organization but an extremely happy customer!)

At any rate, I digress.  It's been a little slow around here and as mentioned in previous posts, I've been a bit down, so I thought this was as good a time as any to introduce my readers to the barn cat colony at FenceRow Farms.  So here we go!
