A Change in Perspective

Funny how fast some things change when others seem so slow!

In a matter of a day, my perspective on the world changed from this:

Too this:

Ok, well not maybe all in one day, but pretty darn near!!  We thought when my dad bought this house, that we were just the last house before the
cul-de-sac and that eventually there would only be a couple of homes there we would have to look at!

Oh no....poof and just like that, cul-de-sac gone and turned into a through street.  And LOOK at the homes in the background next to the woods.  Now those weren't there yesterday I'm sure!!!

So now I can no longer live in denial that I am living in the country.  I could always ignore all the homes next to me on the 'other' side of the house and pretend I was still in the country by only looking to the East!!!  Did I mention that I MISS my home in the country???   I MISS my home in the country!  But.....I have to stay here and take care of dad.  Just the way it is in life for me right now.

And in about 6 weeks, dad and I will be heading to the house in Arizona for the winter.  And...oh yeah.....I just heard that they put in a new house out there on the empty lot RIGHT NEXT to ours!!  What is up with all this change and growth!!  I thought the economy was bad!  We only had a one year with our 'sort of' country view above here in Indiana.  But in Arizona, we had the empty lot for 7 years!!!  We could see out!!  We could see the top of a mountain in the distance, we could see sunsets!!

Gheesh...how fast a perspective changes!!

  1. I suppose change is inevitable. Maybe your new neighbors will be wonderful you won't miss the view so much. Honestly, I was thinking of you today and had planned on emailing you to see if everything was OK. Then your post popped up. Bizarre? Lol

  2. Hi Karen, nice hearing from you. It's been a while since we heard how things are.
I hope that your neighbours will be nice people. I can understand your frustration. The builders are packing houses so close together, I don't know how people can feel at home in those subdivisions especially when you get a bad neighbour.

Fall is just around the corner and before we can blink, it will be Halloween.

    Take care. JB

  3. Darn it. Why don't people buy already exsting houses? Buy something in the city and fix it up!

  4. Karen,
So glad to see you post again! I love your smiling face in the avatar!!!
I can't understand the urban sprawl either..... it is a good thing in some cases as I suppose it offers jobs etc. but the natural landscape is being taken up and that is not good for our wildlife friends or those who don't want to live in populated domains. Change happens faster than this ol' gal would like to see! Hang tough! Hope Dad is staying out of trouble and you all have a safe trip to AZ!
    Hugs!!

    1. Hi Cathy! It's good to have a minute to Blog, I miss it. Dad is doing pretty well, considering this spring after his last encounter with blood clots, I didn't think we'd be going back to AZ. I'm really kinda ready to go!! Don't leave until the end of Oct this year, going to stay put as long as I can to make sure he will be good to go.

  6. Aww, I'm sorry! I'd always sort of dreamed that one day I'd inherit my dad's house in the country. Now he's putting up for sale and that dream is dying. The truth is, I don't want to have to maintain all the buildings or swelter with no air conditioning, but I loved that house. Anyway, I feel your pain!

  10. Hi Sandy!! Can't wait to see you. Isn't it ironic that they put a house on the lot next to us in Montesa and also have started building on the lots next to us here in IN!! Should be back there by the end of Oct if dad stays like he is!! See you soon!

  11. I feel your pain. They bulldozed 94 beautifully wooded acres next to my home in order to put in 210 homes!! Well, the economy did tank and now we have a defunct, partially built subdivision. Oh well... I hope whatever they build is pleasant to look at.

  12. Hi Karen,
I'm a tad late getting to the blogs as you can see...over a month now since your post but HERE I AM...
Goodness doesn't that just make one sad - all the good 'country' areas are being gobbled up by construction. I feel bad for you both.
By now you should be in AZ - hope things are well,
    Karen

  13. As stated by Stanford Medical, It's really the SINGLE reason this country's women live 10 years more and weigh an average of 42 lbs lighter than us.

(And by the way, it has totally NOTHING to do with genetics or some secret-exercise and really, EVERYTHING related to "HOW" they are eating.)

P.S, I said "HOW", and not "what"...
