It's been a while since I've done any rug hooking. In fact, not since last winter have I picked up a hook and pulled. One of my New Years resolution was to 'get hooking' again!
And so....today I pulled out some linen backing and decided to draw something to hook. I've always used purchased patterns and kits so drawing this design myself is something quite new!
I started drawing the border making sure to keep the lines straight on the grain. I think I did ok but we shall see when I start hooking.
I drew this cute primitive sheep in the middle. Mostly freehand but traced the main part of the body. Not too bad I guess.
I stopped there for now but will most likely add a beauty line, a vine or something like that to soften the edges. Was feeling pretty good that I got this far and didn't mess up!!
Phew....one resolution I haven't broken yet!!
A Different Kind of Finish ~

Yay for you! I haven't pulled a loop in weeks. I miss it but I'm stuck (as usual). My friend reminded me I promised a medium size rug for her fundraiser Feb 10 PANIC
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the finished product!
ReplyDeleteLooks good Karen! Getting something on the linen is the big hurdle for me... it seems to go better after that. Unless I discover I don't have enough of the color wool I wanted! Reminds me...... there's a pile of wool around here somewhere to be dyed!!
ReplyDeleteHappy hooking again!!

I hate trying to draw the straight lines, but as long as it isn't a geometric...I kind of fix it as I go along. I can't wait to see your sheep take shape. I need to draw up a pattern for that crazy stool! LOL

I think that's going to turn out really cute! I hope you'll show us what it looks like when you get it done.
