The Motivational Hooker!

One nice thing about dad having a new place to live is that most of my immediate family, (brother's and their kids) live within 10 minutes of here.  That's not to say they come by as often as I think they should given the fact that dad and I spend about 8 months of the year in Arizona but....that's just my opinion.

We did get a visit from my sister-in-law this past week however.  And though she and my brother (the had a mid-life crisis brother!) are divorced and have been for a number of years, Jeanine is, has been and will always be, ever part of the family.

Jeanine introduced me to my life of crime as a hooker.  Shame on you....I know what your are thinking!!  I meant to say, as a rug hooker!  Because of her I have a huge tub of my stash wool, two cutters, patterns, yarn for whipping and various as-sundry items that I drag back and forth from Indiana to Arizona every year.

She brought her rug hooking with her so we could compare our winter projects!

This is her primitive flag that she is finishing.  She is having sort of a conniption fit because her stars are all whopper jawed even though they are primitive and meant to be that way!  Can we all say, OCD??

This is a big rug that she has started.  It has log cabins on two sides and pine trees on the opposite sides.  Jeanine is going to hook each cabin with a different color door and chimney.

Here is the full view laid out on the floor.

I've yet to do a project this large.  I'll get around to something one of these days.  In the meantime, her visit has motivated (yep I said motivated!) me to whip the last project I finished in Arizona before coming home for the summer.

It seems I may be coming out of my motivational funk somewhat.  I can only hope!!!!

That is a HUGE rug that Jeanine is starting. I hope you can keep us updated on her progress!
I love her patriotic rug with the whopper jawed (I like that expression!) stars. Do we get to see what you are whipping? (Oh, you naughty hooker...lol.)
    Keep your chin up!
    Hugs :)

  2. Karen, it's so nice that your sister in law came for a visit and has motivated you in picking up your rug again. She seems like a nice friend to have around even though she's responsible to have led you to a life of crime, lol...

I like her primitive flag and that other cabin rug she's working on.

I hope that your week goes well. Blessings on you and your dad. JB

  3. I have a forever sister in law too, in spite of a divorce. Thank God for the friendships that last no matter what.

Does she quilt? I could use some motivation with that! LOL!

  4. Add me to the list of having the forever sister-in-law. She was even the maid of honor at my wedding to my current hubby! Love that cabin rug. I'm glad she's jump started your hooking vibe again. My rug is out...but I've done nothing but move it around. I did hang some painting up yesterday though.
    Take care,
    Courtney

  5. Oh wow! I love that primitive flag! If she doesn't like the stars on it, tell her to send it to Illinois! lol I'm glad to hear you excited about a project for yourself, too! :)

  6. You are sooooo lucky to have a Sister( xnlaw) who rug hooks! I can tell she is passionate about it! That cabin rug is adorable and a wonderfully big project! Yes, keep us updated on that one for sure!
Glad you are finding your motivation again...... I think that painting may have been the engine starter LOL!

  7. Milah...no she doesn't quilt but I do though it's been years. Have thought about taking it up again but I have a penny rug mat I want to do first.

Houndstooth....She probably would send it to Illinois. It's bugging the heck out of her! p.s. have sent a foster app to GPA Indpls last week but not heard back. So want a foster dog for the summer and would love it to be a GH.

Courtney, I guess all I can say is keep moving it. You will eventually pick it up again!

and cathy g, I think you are correct, opening that paint can opened up my motivation!
