Still Missing Motivation

I am working at it though.  I haven't napped for the past two days so that's a step in the right direction.

Somehow, I did manage to get a few of the collars I made back in Arizona listed in my Ebay store.  Plus, a trip to the hardware store yesterday encouraged me to come home with some paint for my bedroom.  Just have to muster up the gumption to actually start the task.

My eating has got to be curbed somehow.  I feel as if I've gained 10lbs since I've been home and I've only been here barely a month.   It's really probably more like 5lbs but I can't be sure.  I don't want to face it and step on the scale to find out.  The fact remains, however, I have gained.  We all know.....it's those subtle differences in the way your clothes fit.  I can't deny that.

In other news, Mr. Fix-it tells me that our Greyhound, HiLite, seems to be eating better though she is deathly thin.  The infection on her back is healing and as long as she is kept on the prednisone, HiLite continues to hold her own.

As far as Mr. Fix-it goes....poor guy.  He is wearing himself out going between our house in the country and dad's new house, where I am living this summer.  We often wonder if we will ever get to have a normal life again and live under the same roof.

That said, I'm not sure what 'normal' really is or if it even exists!  Perhaps normal is just a figment of my imagination.

  1. I make comments and forget to go back and put the word in!!

My last comment was...maybe it is time to foster again.
...or find someone for respite and spend a week with the handy man.

Gosh, I almost did it, again!

  2. May your acceptable "normal" occur. I search for mine also. I wish you well.

  3. I don't have much of a solution for many of your troubles, but try feeding HiLite some Satin Balls. They work like a charm for putting weight back on. We used them with one of our old hounds who'd gotten sick and lost a lot of weight. All of the hounds would have jumped through rings of fire for them, too! It's not hard to make them, although a bit sticky, but we made them and put the extras in Ziploc bags and had enough so we only had to make them once or twice a week.

Gail....I am working on fostering a Greyhound, hoping it will work out.

  5. I'm glad to hear you are thinking of fostering a greyhound. If I didn't have Gus I'd go crazy! I was remembering when my kids were teens and I would delight in planning the evening meal during the summer. I'm like my corgi...need to stay busy! Transitions are tough. I hope some good inspiration strikes soon!

  6. Karen, I often wish that me and my husband had a normal life and that we didn't work so hard every day and that we would have vacations together instead of taking time off separately. We can hardly sit at the table to have a meal together. Always in a rush to have to go somewhere. There is never time to fix what needs fixing and I could go on... I

I guess that we all have our cross to bear and sometime it's hard doing it alone. I can relate to you. I'm almost 65 and I should start to slow down but I'm going faster than ever and getting nowhere just wishing I had a normal life too. JB

  7. Karen ~
My wish for you is that you can adjust to your new "normal", whatever that may be. Life is just too darned hard sometimes.
Thinking good thoughts for you, dear friend!
    Pug hugs :)
